The Mercedes-Benz S-class is produced
since 2005.
Most of the engines for
the new Mercedes S-class are newly developed and deliver more power
comparing with the previous car. All of them without exception
provide strong performance and the S600 boasts supercar's
acceleration.
The S-class comes with an
adaptive damping air suspension. It's settings are automatically
adjusted accordingly to the road surface. Body movements are well
controlled. Steering is very accurate and gives plenty of feedback.
There is little to
disturb peace inside the cabin even at motorway speed. Engine sound
is perfectly isolated, as well as other wind and road noises.
To buy an to run
the S-class Mercedes you must
have a deep pocket. It is much more expensive than it's rivals and
has a high fuel consumption. However it's resale value is one of the
best in this class. The Mercedes is also a very reliable car so you
can expect it to run for ages.
A new model received a completely redesigned interior. All materials
have also been upgraded. Panels are precisely fitted and finished.
All the most commonly used functions can be accessed through a
single rotary dial which is similar to the BMW iDrive system.
There is plenty of room for the driver and the front seats are
finely adjustable.
The new Mercedes-Benz S-class is larger than the previous model.
Boot space has also been increased despite it was large enough
already.
The S-class has all the
active and passive safety features you would expect. Plenty of
all-round airbags, anti-lock brakes, traction control and other
driving aids are standard across the range. In fact it is one of the
safest cars on the roads and is only matched by
Jaguar XJ. Unfortunately list of
standard security equipment is short.
Mercedes has fitted all
the cutting-edge technology available in the S-class. All the
equipment that you can think of is standard, and options include a
hi-tech aids such as radar-operated cruise control and infrared
headlights for better night-time visibility.
Production of the
Mercedes S-class still continues.
Advantages:
Brilliant executive car built from the finest materials. The S-class
sets new
standards for it's rivals.
Disadvantages:
More expensive than it's rivals and has a high fuel consumption.
Verdict: It is the best selling
executive car, and customers can't be wrong.
