Mercedes-Benz SLK

   The Mercedes SLK is produced since 2004.

   There are a choice of five engines, ranging from 1.8-liter, to a monsterour 5.5-liter unit, which develops 355 hp and will get you from 0 to 100km/h in under 5 seconds. The SLK55 AMG engine has a pace of the supercar for half of the price. This car is available with a six-speed manual and seven-speed auto gearboxes on all models except the 1.8-litre version, which comes with a five-speed gearbox.

    The Mercedes-Benz SLK has a superbly comfortable ride despite it's sports suspension and handless really well. This car has plenty of grip and keeps the road well at high speeds. On the other hand SLK's handling is not as good as on the BMW Z4.

   Both wind and road noises are almost entirely absent with the roof panel in place. You can hear only engine's exhaust note. With the roof panel off and wind-blocker which you can fit behind the seats you'll feel really comfortable not like in some other roadsters.

   There was a significant demand on this car since the first day of production, furthermore SLK resale values are also strong. SLK's  fuel bills and servicing costs shouldn't be an issue for its owner. 

   Inside the cabin everything is extremely well made from the best materials and fabrics as in other Mercedes-Benz cars. Every single switch and button operates with a slick precision and is easy to find and clear to use. The seats are fully adjustable and very supportive. On the other hand there can be some troubles with electrics in some models. One more thing is that this car is overloaded with various controls.

   Behind the wheel it is easy to find a comfortable driving position, due to the driver's seat and steering wheel movements. All the cabin is brilliantly made with plenty of spare space. Boot of the Mercedes-Benz SLK now is more generous than in other roadsters. And it takes only 22 seconds to fold an electric roof of this roadster.

   The SLK has all the safety equipment and features you might expect from a car with such price tag. There are four airbags and much more to avoid the accident or to reduce risk of an injuries in case the accident has happened. However the deadlocks are not installed as standard.

   Standard equipment list on the Mercedes SLK includes a climate control, electric windows and other goodies which you expect to find in a luxury sports car. Also there are a list of options which you can choose for extra money.

   Production of the Mercedes SLK still continues.

   Advantages: Drives better than it's predecessor, has better engines and much improved interior.

   Disadvantages: Overloaded with various buttons.

   Verdict: Classy way to get some wind in your hair.
